Motorboat racing debut: 1994

A fighter pilot in the U.A.E Armed Forces, Al Ghaith is equally at home in the cockpit of a Class1 powerboat as he is in the cockpit of a jet fighter. He made his racing debut in ’94 and Victory Team debut in ’96, finishing runner-up in the Class 2 World Championship in Oman alongside Saeed Al Tayer. A third place in the ’97 Class 2 Worlds in Argentina earned him the role of Class 1 reserve driver. He opened his account in his first full season in Class 1 in ’98 with a fourth place at the opening race in Bari, Italy and went on to score his first podium, a third in Istanbul followed by his first win in Nettuno, Italy.

A graduate of Arizona University with a diploma in computer programming and a BSc in computer management, Khalfan is the Victory Team’s most successful driver. Now the managing director of the Victory Team Organisation he led the team to its first Class 1 World Championship in ‘93, becoming the first Arab to win this coveted title. He has since gone on to win two Class 2 World Championships in Oman in ’96 and Bangor in ’98. He has won 9 Grands Prix and amassed 17 podium placings and 1 Pole Position win.
