For immediate release Offshore Sport Promotion confirms venues and dates for 2nd half of seasonAs the teams in this years U.I.M. Class 1 World Powerboat Championship enjoy the calm of the mid-season break, Offshore Sport Promotions newly appointed managing director, Richard Ridout, confirmed the calendar for the second half of the season. "The objective for the 1998 season from the outset has been to run eight events and that has not changed," commented Ridout. "We have for several reasons had to be flexible with the calendar and have had to react to certain situations. This has meant postponing certain events and looking at the possibilities of adding new ones." The latest addition of venues to host a round of the Championship is the picturesque Marina di Nettuno, Italy. Nettuno is the third new location this season, replacing Taranto and is confirmed as round 5 and will take place on Sunday September 27th. Remaining unchanged on the calendar are the races in Istanbul, Turkey (6th September) and the final two rounds of the Championship in Dubai (20th and 27th November). However Beirut which has always been a possibility as an alternative is no longer being considered for 1998, but remains an option for 1999. The final piece in the jigsaw puzzle, the venue to complete the calendar, will be announced by Offshore Sport Promotion by the end of September. 1998 CALENDAR
